Voices build fortresses
from our fingertips, lips
and movements,
so please
don’t worry when you feel
lost and muffled,
beneath a swirl of heart-wrenching metaphors and one-of-a-kind ideas.

Remember!
It only takes one sperm to create Life
one to inspire others through his/her dreams,
one to propose a nuclear war,
for one can change everything.

When you’re alone and
at the darkest point of night –
slumped over a fresh page and some blue ink –
pour, flow and set your thoughts into curves,
shed your clothes and cover yourself in smears and smudges,
and when you feel the words are awk/ward
and stil-ted
write on
because no matter what you say,
your voice will always have a place,
nestled perfectly in the space
between the Greats.

5 reasons why rainy days are the one

Grey skies, groups of raindrops crawling down your window and a steaming mug of tea within your grasp – all encapsulate the calmness of rainy days.  Everyone loves a blistering hot day at the beach or a sunny meander of the city, but I have a very large place in my heart for rainy days. Why? Well…

The smell
Petrichor: a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.

You know the one.  The earthy, damp smell that marks the beginning of a new cycle.  Sodden leaves, dripping flower petals and chocolate-cake mud are all wonderful results of a downpour.  It’s revitalising for humans and nature alike, so much so that you can almost feel the plant-life thriving around you.

Rainy, lazy days
In our fast-paced worlds, having some downtime is a luxury.  Downpours offer us the perfect excuse to laze around all day and spend quality time with loved ones.  Pop the kettle on, inhale a ridiculous amount of chocolate biccies and delve into that novel you’ve been waiting to read!  Rainy days mean calm, slow days that allow you to rejuvenate and revel in calmness.

The perfect lullaby
Many people hate thunder & lightening – flashing blue windows and earth-shattering rumbles – especially at night.  I think there’s nothing more amazing!  Hearing the heavens fling open whilst you’re snug-as-a-bug instantly makes you feel so safe.  Pull your duvet up to your chin and meditate to the rainfall, fully immersing yourself into the experience.

Here comes the sun
Like two sides of a coin, rain / sun create very different experiences and seem to follow one another seamlessly.  There may be scientific evidence to disprove this but after a day of grey cloud and relentless rain, comes the sun.  Expect to indulge in azure skies, crisp air and verdant plant-life.  Mother Nature has cleansed herself and everything is better for it.

Playing in puddles
Once you’ve grown up, a rainy day always has negative connotations: gets your hair wet, going to get soaked, don’t want to go out.  Channel your inner child and embrace splashing in puddles and feel the rain trickling down your face.  Growing up in the Middle East, rainfall was greatly anticipated and when the deluge arrived we went straight for the puddles.  Water from the sky?  Incroyable.
